Information for 2022 Tax Documents

Pershing Tax Form Mailing Dates

It is once again the time of year to begin preparing for tax filings. Pershing, a BNY Mellon company, provides tax reporting on our behalf. The mailing date of your Form 1099 depends on the types of holdings in your account. The following schedule will apply, although dates are subject to change:

Mail Date: January 31, 2022

Type of Account: Accounts with holdings and income that typically do not require additional information from issuers. Generally, this includes stocks, bonds and options.

Mail Date: February 15, 2022
Type of Account: Retirement Accounts (IRA)

In our experience, if you took a distribution, Form 1099-R should be available.

Taxable Accounts (TOD, Trust, etc.)

In our experience, Form 1099 may be delayed due to issuers not providing final tax information.

Accounts holding more complex securities, for which issuers provided final tax information after January 31. Generally, this includes mutual funds, certain unit investment trust (UITs), real estate investment trusts (REITs) and certain equities that were not included in the January 31 mailing.

If you hold positions for which issuers have not yet provided final tax information, you may receive a Pending 1099 Notice from Pershing.

Mail Date: February 28, 2022:
Type of Account: In our experience, most remaining Form 1099s will be mailed on this date.

Accounts for which final tax information and/or income reclassifications were received after Feb. 15. Generally, this includes remaining mutual funds, REITs and certain equities.

Mail Date: March 15, 2022

Type of Account: Form 1099 will be mailed for all remaining accounts regardless of whether pending income reclassifications have been received from issuers.

* Holding only these types of securities does not guarantee that your tax statements will be mailed on the indicated dates.

Tips & Tricks

* It is possible that your Form 1099 may be revised after you received it. Therefore, consider filing your tax return closer to the filing deadline. If applicable, you can apply for an extension. This is typically easier than amending your tax return.

** If you have accounts that are held outside of Pershing, the mailing dates may be different.

*** If you have eDelivery, you can access your Pershing tax documents via AdviceWorks or NetXInvestor.

**** Do not finalize your taxes until you made sure that you received all forms. If you think you are missing forms, reach out to us or your tax professional.
